Social Media Management
Turn your phone into a client-getting machine
Small businesses know they need social media but don't have time to do it properly — you become their solution.
Realistic earnings: £150–£500 per month — per client, after 2–3 months of building the relationship.

What you'll need
- Basic Instagram/Facebook knowledge
- Decent phone photos
- Simple caption writing
- Comfortable replying to comments
The opportunity
Almost every local business has an account that hasn't been posted to in weeks. They're not lazy — they're busy running the business. You're not selling them 'marketing', you're selling them one less thing to think about.
Getting started
- 1Build a simple package: daily posts, story updates, comment management, hashtag research and a weekly report.
- 2Price a trial week first so the client risks almost nothing, then move them onto a monthly package.
- 3Scan local Facebook groups and business pages for accounts with under 500 followers or no posts in the last two weeks.
- 4Send the outreach message below to five businesses a day until someone says yes.
- 5Deliver the trial week brilliantly, then present the monthly package on day six.
What to charge
| What | Details | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Trial week | One week of posting so they can see the difference | £20–£30per one-off |
| Starter monthly package | 3 posts a week plus stories and comment management | £80–£110per month |
| Full monthly package | Daily posting, stories, engagement and a monthly report | £120–£150per month |
Raise your prices once you have three happy clients — not before.
Outreach message
Hi [Name], I came across [Business] while looking for local [industry] businesses and had a proper look at your page. You've clearly got great [product/service] — the page just isn't showing it off yet. I manage social media for small businesses locally, and I'd like to offer you a one-week trial for £25 so you can see what a difference consistent posting makes. I'll handle a week of posts, stories and replying to comments. No contract, and if you don't love it we shake hands and part ways. Would you like me to start Monday? [Your name]
Weekly delivery checklist
- Plan next week's content on Friday (7 posts, 5 stories)
- Source or shoot photos — client's own photos first, stock second
- Write captions in the client's voice, not yours
- Schedule everything so posting never depends on your mood
- Reply to every comment and DM within 24 hours
- Send a short Friday report: reach, new followers, top post
Scaling path
- 1Start with one client and over-deliver.
- 2Add one new client per week until you hit your capacity.
- 3After three successful clients, raise your prices for all new clients.
- 4Hand off scheduling to a virtual assistant once you pass five clients.
