A useful record, not a vanity total

Track money when it is actually earned

Log completed, paid work rather than quotes, enquiries or hopeful pipeline value. Choose the method that produced the payment, use the date it arrived, and add a short note explaining the job or sale. A consistent record shows which activity is producing cash and prevents a busy week from feeling more successful than it was.

Three steps for every payment

  1. 1. Enter the amount received. Use the displayed currency and record the real payment, after any refund.
  2. 2. Attribute the method. This lets you compare which approach contributes most over time.
  3. 3. Add a decision-useful note. Record the offer, repeat client, upsell or unusually high cost that explains the result.

Review the pattern, then choose the next action

Look beyond the total

At the end of each week, compare earnings with the hours, messages and delivery effort behind them. A smaller payment from a repeatable service may be more valuable than a larger one-off sale.

Repeat what converted

Use your notes to identify the offer, customer type or follow-up that led to payment. Put more of next week’s effort into that combination before adding a new method.

Treat gaps as a signal

A quiet week is useful information. Return to outreach, improve the offer or choose a better-fit method; do not inflate the record with unpaid promises.
